The Asus EEE PC 904HA: A Cut Above The Rest Of The Mini-Notebook Market

Launched in September 2008, the Asus EEE PC 904HA joined the booming market of netbooks right at the time when demand for these mini-notebooks were growing almost exponentially, and competition for gaining leadership in the market was getting tough. And the Asus EEE PC 904HA definitely came into the picture in full force with its impressive specs and impressive price tag. Today, after the launch of many other mini-notebooks from various brands, the Asus EEE PC 904HA remains a popular model and continues to gain good reviews from new buyers. It is ideal as a second netbook or a mobile connectivity device for students and business travelers who are constantly on the go.

To begin with, the Asus EEE PC 904HA has a rather impressive price tag amounting to as low as USD 311.99. What’s more, the 904HA’s low price tag is even more surprising considering its high quality and highly impressive specifications that give it a slight edge in the netbook market. For one thing, its 8.9-inch monitor is just the right size so that the Asus EEE PC 904HA is ultra lightweight and very portable. Furthermore, it also boasts of the Super Hyper Engine, a technology that can only be found in EEE PCs in which your EEE netbook is made so efficient that it’s able to save up to 15% of power. The Asus EEE PC 904HA is so efficient, in fact, that it has a battery life that can last up to six hours.

The Asus EEE PC 904HA also has a built-in web camera for your communication needs, and a storage space of 160GB which makes it convenient to store various forms of multimedia. It runs on Windows XP Home and has Windows Live Messenger also pre-installed.

And while the Asus EEE PC 904HA is light on the pocket, it’s a sight for sore eyes too – with its stylish design, advanced Infushion casing that’s both scratch-resistant and gorgeous, the Asus EEE PC 904HA is a slim, sassy model of a mini-notebook and definitely not just a boring box of a laptop.

Don’t expect the Asus EEE PC 904HA to be a multimedia, all-in-one entertainment powerhouse of a PC – it’s meant to be basic and simple, but that isn’t to say that it can’t be tricked out. The Asus EEE PC 904HA can be easily upgraded as a user wishes, giving it yet another edge against other competitors in the netbook arena.
Overall, the Asus EEE PC 904HA is a definite steal for a price tag of a little over three hundred US dollars, and with all its impressive specs, it’s definitely a stand-out amidst the sea of mini-notebooks that are out in the market today.

Acer Aspire One 8.9-inch Mini Laptop, Another Cheap Mini Laptop

The Acer Aspire One is a 8.9" display netbook ( or mini laptop ) . The base Acer Aspire One, which includes an 8GB SSD and Linux starts at $329 available at amazon.com, which is the cheapest one that has the Intel Atom processor. Below is the Aspire one review from my opinion.

Display
It has a 8.9" , 1024 x 600-pixel resolution , LED Display. The LED backlit display on the Acer Aspire One is very bright and vibrant. The white levels are very clear, leaning towards the cooler or bluer side.

Design
The design of the Acer Aspire One is very sleek with softly rounded edges and a smooth glossy surface that is comfortable to hold when closed. It is accented with distinctive details, such as the attractive orange hinge ring. What I didn’t like is that the Acer Aspire one has a gap between the bottom of the display and the netbook base.
The Build quality looks solid and doesn't look like a budget mini laptop.

Keyboard and Touchpad
I really like the keyboard. It's a great size and doesn't feel crunched up in order to hit a form factor. In fact, because it provides solid key response and a wide gap between buttons, I proclaim this one of the few netbooks to be fully adult-hand friendly

Operating System
The mini laptop comes with either a Linpus Linux or Windows XP operating system.

Battery
If I turn down the brightness, switch off wifi, and use non-CPU intensive applications, I can squeeze a little over 2.5 hours

Conslusion
Pros:
- Great Keyboard considering the mini laptop's size compare with Eee PC 900 or Eee PC901
- Low Price. Excellent value for money.
- Attractive, slim design. Doesn't look like a budget laptop.

Con:
- Very hard for upgrades.
- Noisy cooling fan.

1000HE Eee PC FROM ASUS BEGINS SHIPPING

Yes we know this is not terribly exciting but those 1000HE Eee models that Asus demoed at CES have begun to ship. More importantly is the fact that they carry a few cool features for the sub $400 netbook crowd like the updated 1.6GHz N280 CPU, and a 9.5 hour battery.

But as we said before you might want to wait a bit until the tablet editions unveil themselves a few months from now which are bound to bring Window's 7 support as well as multi touch capabilities and according to Asus they will be under $300.

Toshiba Laptops - World On Your Laps

Evolving from gigantic power consuming dodos, our virtual brains have turned into feather light beauties. I am talking about our very needful Laptops. Not only this, the breed has also got its own types like Ultra portables, Thin and Lights, Midsize- standards, Desktop- replacements, Tablet PC’s and Rugged laptops. One of the big names in the business is Toshiba.

Singing loud its jingle: “Committed to the people, committed to the future, Toshiba has stood up for Japanese Standards. Although its laptops are best known for their mobility but the price factor is commendable as well. The brand’s notebook lines include the Satellite, Qosmio, Tecra and Portege series for home, business and educational users.

Satellite offers home computing with “great multimedia” assertion. Do not confuse it with satellite pro, which, on the contrary is for everyday business. Talking about corporate machines, Toshiba was the one to present world’s first industry standard Notebook. Tecra, its modern avatar, is the line offering high performance corporate notebooks. While Toshiba designed Portege to ease people on goes, Qosmio is for people with a thing for high definition.

This was brands internal story but let’s see what the market has to say. Toshiba’s close rival is Dell in the sense that if told to choose one among the two, you can never decide. For example Dell XPS M1530 and Toshiba Pro A200-E560D are both prices at 57900 INR, all features are same except that Dell gives you 320 GB 5400RPM SATA drive while Toshiba only 80 GB. However Toshiba offers you WIFI which is missing in case of dell. Where Toshiba offers you ultra portable M600-E360D for 90000 INR, Dell has a rugged (Dell XPS M1730) for 99900 INR. Toshiba comes with 3 year international warranty but none can doubt Dell’s durability. Both brands give you the freedom to customize your laptop.

To sum up Toshiba offers you the best of portables and affordable home solutions but if you are a clumsy user go Dell. Its all a battle between mobility and rigidity.
