  • Intel Atom processor N270, 1.6 GHz

  • 1 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM
  • Intel 945GSE shared
  • 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 10/100 BaseTX LAN

According to the reviews of Samsung NC10, it is definitely one of the best netbooks that's worth going for.

10-inch Acer Aspire One Officially Launched

Acer has recently released the 10-inch version of Aspire One netbook, AOD150, in the U.S.

Acer provide a few color options for their new 10-inch Aspire One, but unfortunately pink is not one of them (there's a ruby red version though which might be of interest for pink laptop lovers).

acer aspire one ado150
The specs for the Aspire One AOD150 are as follows:
  • 10.1-inch 1024×600 Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD display
  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB/5,400 rpm HDD
  • 945GSE Express Chipset
  • Integrated Intel GMA950 graphics
  • WiFi 802.11b/g
  • Acer Crystal Eye webcam
  • A multi-in-1 card reader
  • 6-cell battery
  • Available colors: seashell white, sapphire blue, ruby red and diamond black
And as usual, Laptop Magazine has got an early review on the new 10-inch machine from Acer. According to them, the Aspire One AOD150 is slim, stylish, and comes with great performance and battery life. If not because of the keyboard and touchpad layout, it's almost comparable to the Samsung NC10 and the new Asus Eee PC 1000HE... and it beats the other two in terms of price ($349.99). Overall, Laptop Magazine gave it a rating of 4 out of 5.

The Acer Aspire One AOD150 appears to be another great netbook that can be listed in our best netbook list. It's unfortunate that it's currently not available in pink, but we believe sooner or later, Acer will release a pink version, just its 8.9-inch predecessor.

Dual-Screen Netbook from Sharp Coming to USA for Sub-$1000

Netbooks are supposed to be cheap affordable and handy. However Sharp is bringing out a special netbook which is not cheap about $1000. So the netbook has to be handier than others in the market to be able to attract the consumers.

PC-NJ70A netbook comes with two LCD monitors: 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) main screen display and the small secondary screen located in the trackpad place. The small one is a 4-inch display that features 854 x 480 resolution and dynamical brightness. The user is able to do browsing files and running applications by it.

This pricey netbook features a 1.6-GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, 3 USB ports, VGA out, Ethernet, EEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and a memory card reader and 1.3 MP Camera.

The netbook seems to be expensive in terms of specs. If the company had added 3G as a standard feature to this netbook or had used Express Card slot rather than media card reader to give the alternative of using 3G through Express slot, the price would have been more acceptable.

This netbook is on its way to the US market. It is available for pre-order.

Do you think many American consumers will consider of this netbook as one of their choices?

HP dv3t Laptop to Push Performance Starting at $800 to come in May

HP released its AMD-based dv3z laptop at the beginning of this month and obtained the rank of “very good” from Cnet editors because of its bargain price, very good feature set and excellent battery life with this price (4 hours and 41 minutes).

But the only big complain about this laptop was its slow performance. In any test Dell Studio XPS 13 ( featuring 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600; 4,096MB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz; 256MB Nvidia GeForce 9400M G; 320GB Seagate 7,200rpm) defeated the HP dv3z (featuring 2.3GHz AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM-84; 4,096MB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz; 320MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200; 320GB Fujitsu 5,400rpm) very easily, with its much better scores.

HP knows this problem. The users who love to have one HP dv3 but with better performance need only wait some because HP is releasing the Intel-based HP dv3t laptop in May.

HP dv3t laptop starts from Sub-$800 and comes with striking features such as:

Wind U100 PLUS Netbook and MSI X340 Slim Laptop Released Soon

MSI is releasing two computer devices: Wind U100 PLUS Netbook and MSI X340 Ultra slim laptop by end of this month.

Wind U100 is totally known in them market and it was among the best selling netbooks last year. Wind U100 Plus is coming to give more choices to the consumers. Wind U100 PLUS adds two new stylish colors to Wind U100 line: Rose Champagne and Metallic Blue. Wind U100 Plus also is powered with New Atom N280 with clock speed of 1.66GHz.

The netbook features up to 7 hours of battery life, 10” LED backlight display, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, integrated flash card reader, 1.3MP webcam, and Bluetooth 2.1 and weight of only 1kg.

MSI X-Slim X340 Ultra laptop will be the first laptop powering with Latest Intel Core 2 Solo Processor (CULV) in the market. This laptop like the previous one is coming out in USA by the end of this month.

Intel’s CULV CPU consumes very low power (about 5.5W of power used by 1.4GHz Intel CULV CPU) but, delivers performance closer to tradition notebooks.

The 13-inch X340 slim laptop stands next to Mac Mac Air, Envy 133, Samsung X360, and Dell Adamo etc ultra slim laptops. MSI claims that it is world’s lightest and slimmest 13-inch notebooks!

The laptop is only 6 mm at its thinnest, 20 mm at its widest, and the entire notebook is only weights 1.3 kilograms added with the battery! After seeing the pictures of X340, it seems that the laptop’s design is following the typical design of other MSI laptops and doesn’t look different. Comparing to other ultra slim laptops releasing by other companies, I feel that X340 looks ordinary although it is very thin and light!

The other highlighted features of X340 ultra include:

- Advanced Power Saving Technology

- WiMAX Wireless Module (optional)

- 802.11b / g / n Wireless Lan with Bluetooth (optional)

- 13-inch LCD (why not LED!) display with 16:9 Theater Ratio

- 2 USB2.0 Ports and HDMI output and Card Reader

- 2.5" 250GB/320GB/500GB SATA

Despite Economic recession, Laptop makers try to produce expensive stylish ultra slim laptops for corporate users! Surely they will never expect to sell a number of units from this category but it seems that making laptops like this has become part of the prestige of the company to demonstrate the ultimate skills of their designers.

Radio Shack and ATt&T Offer: Acer Aspire One Only for $80!

The $100 laptop seemed an impossible idea when Intel and Nicholas Negroponte started developing their own budget laptops for children of developing countries. When Asus enter to this quest with its Eee PC netbook, this idea became more touchable.

Bu this quest has got a new face since the wireless companies like AT&T starting subsidizing some of the popular netbooks like Eee PC 900 or HP mini 1000.

This time you can find the new offer of an 8.9" Acer Aspire One netbook equipped with WiMAX and 3G wireless in Radio Shack stores for just $80!

Well it sounds to be a great deal but, you can not get this netbook with this price lest you sign up a contract with AT&T for a 2-year wireless data plan costing $1440.

Well, it is clear that this particular offer is only appropriate for particular customers.

Nevertheless, the idea of $100 laptop needs a hard quest and it is impossible idea especially for the children of developing cuntries.

Acer Aspire One Feature:

• 8.9" CrystalBrite LED backlit LCD screen with 1024x600 resolution

• Integrated CrystalEye webcam

• Intel Atom processor

• 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 3G wireless access (with activation)

• 1GB memory and 160GB hard drive

• Windows XP Home Operating System

• Multi-in-one media card reader

• 3 USB 2.0 ports

• 3-cell Li-ion battery for approximately 2.5 hours of power

•available in blue and pink colors

MacBook-Like Acer Aspire 3935 Laptop Starts from $900

Macbook laptops are fashionable, stylish, popular and affordable. So, they are good examples for other laptop makers to follow Mac style. However, it is not enough to get some shares of this laptop in the market lest they offer something more than MacBooks. Acer has tried this path with its upcoming Acer Aspire 3935 laptop. This Mac-like business laptop comes with upmarket 13-inch 16:9 widescreen LED display (rather than a standard LCD monitor), as slender as less than 1-inch and also multi-touch gestures rather than normal touchpad.

But these are not the only highlighted features of Aspire 3935.

This laptop first of all starts from more competitive price of $900- pretty cheaper than MacBook. Also, Acer has claimed that this new laptop is more energy efficient because of its Intel ULV processors and provides an excellent battery runtime up to 10 hours and mere with a single battery.

The third issue that Acer has paid attention and is important for most of laptop users is keeping the laptop cool even under heavy operation. Intel’s passive cooling system on this laptop keeps the outer surface like palm rest and underneath of laptop cool.

Well this laptop from Acer seems to be successful since releasing, for its price and the striking features mentioned above although it doesn’t have the smart and stylish design of MacBooks. Another advantage could be the Windows Operating system on this Acer laptop rather than Mac X OS, as it is more familiar for most of users especially in Asia.

Dell Vostro A90 after Japan Available Now in USA

Dell Vostro A90 is actually another 9-in netbook from Dell for American and Japanese market. Starting from $349, Vostro A90 targets only business users. The Vostro A90 with basic configuration is similar to Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with the price tag of $299.

The newly-arrived netbook is equipped with typical feature set: 8.9 inch Wide Screen WSVGA (1024 x 600 screen resolution) TrueLife, 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 512MB(DDR2,533MHZ,1 DIMM) RAM, 8GB Solid State Drive, Intel GMA 950 graphics, Wireless 802.11g Mini Card, Battery (4 cell), Integrated 0.3M Pixel Webcam, and Windows XP Home Edition.

The netbook sports 10/100 RJ 45 Ethernet, 3 USB 2.0 ports,15-pin VGA, 3-in-1 media memory card reader SD/SDIO/MMC, Microphone-in and Headphone-output jacks, Security cable slot, 1 internal mini-card slots (WLAN mini card), and One USB based card slot for optional Bluetooth.

As you see you can hardy find differences between these two netbooks. I should mention that Vostro A90 is some lighter than Mini 9 and looks more classic which is fit to business users more. Also, 1 GB of RAM is a standard feature even for the basic model, but A90 offers smaller 512MB of Ram for its basic model. Dell has used another sort of screen for A90 as well.

I am somehow confused that why Dell did not try to make its new netbook some more different that what it had launched before! At least Dell could use faster atom processor or offer better Wi-Fi like Wireless n with this higher starting price than Mini 9.

Anyhow, welcome to Vostro A90!

Dell Mini 10 Available for Purchase Only Sub-$400; & First Mini 10 hands-on:

Dell has launched the same Mini 10 in its website with cheaper price tag of $399.
The Mini 10 available at Dell comes with the following feature set:

Color: Obsidian Black
Processor: Intel Atom Processor Z520 (1.33GHz/533MHz FSB/512K Cache)
Memory: 1GB of RAM
Hard Drive: 160G, 2.5inch, 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Wireless: Wireless 802.11g (1397) Mini Card
Webcam: Integrated 1.3M Pixel Webcam
Battery: 24WHr Lithium-Ion Battery (3-cell)
OS: Windows XP Home Edition SP3

There is no option for 802.11n Wi-Fi for this laptop I am afraid. also there is no Bluetooth. However, you can purchase the External optical drive with this netbook with up to $80.

The striking features of Mini 10 consisting of :
- Multi-touch trackpad
- edge-to-edge display with 16:9 ratio which is suitable to watch HD movies!
- HDMI out port rather than typical VGA out
- Polished design in different 6 color options
-Dell offers plenty of upgrade options, none of which I have tested, including the choice of Ubuntu and Vista operating systems, an internal TV tuner and HD resolution, Bluetooth, Wireless WAN, internal GPS, larger storage and memory capacity plus the option for solid state over hard disk drives ( now you can not findany of them to customize the current Mini 10 available at Dell website).

Rundown of Mini 10 hands-on :

Krisabel.ctv.ca thinks that:
Pros:
Dell Mini 10 gets the same keyboard style of Mini 12 ( with flat keys) The keyboard is nice and comfortable. However, it offers more glossy diplay. Also, it looks more fashionable and expensive because of its more polished finish.
the netbook with 1.6GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM could easily handle several applications including Google Earth, Picasa, and iTunes simultaniously. The boottime is fast.
Dell offers plenty of upgrade options, including the choice of Ubuntu and Vista operating systems, an internal TV tuner and HD resolution, Bluetooth, Wireless WAN, internal GPS, larger storage and memory capacity plus the option for solid state over hard disk drives that will be available later.

Cons:
Unfortunately, the battery run time is short compared to many netbooks. The battery lasted only two hours while turning off the power management settings,Wi-Fi on, and running a music track on an endless loop.another big complain is the lack of Bluetooth. The third problem was the HDMI. The writer tried to play HD video and watch it on its TV through HDMI but he was not able to. He only could stream some simple YouTube videos.Additionally, "The Mini 10 makes for a poor media centre PC." Price is not aggrasive compared to the current 10-inch mini notebook in the market.

Dell Unveils Mini 10 Officially: A netbook with HDMI port! Pre-order at QVC

Dell Mini 10 first was shown off at CES show last month. Dell Inspiron Mini netbook Line up is getting matured by Mini 10. Dell has put together all experiences learned from the designing of Mini 9 and Mini 12 and is releasing its new netbook Mini 10 with impressive striking features. This Mini laptop is available for pre-order now at QVC for $560 (featuring processor Z530, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, 60GB HDD, 802.11 wireless-G and 1.3MP webcam and no bluetooth).

Here are the highlighted features:

- Customizable netbook, there are options available for color design, processor, hard drive Wireless and external optical drive

- A bright 10.1", seamless widescreen display with a16:9 aspect ratio and 1024x576 resolution

- HDMI out for watching HD movies on external TV or bigger display rather than typical VGA out

- Wireless– n and Bluetooth

- 2 USB and 1 Power USB

- The netbook is available in 6 color options including Red, pink, blue, white, black and green and 5 artist designs that will be available later.

- Multi-touch track pad and the keyboard at 92% the size of a standard laptop

- Partnership with Box.net to provide 2GB of free Internet storage for every Inspiron Mini 10 customer

- Spill resistant

- Online backup service offers data protection

- Optional 720p Hi-def 10.1¨ seamless display, optional 2GB memory and optional 250GB2 hard drive, optional GPS with optional internal WWAN support , internal digital TV tuner and 6-cell battery with 6 hours runtime that Dell will release all these options for Mini 10 some later.

Well, from now, I should say the first and big complaint against Mini 10 is its short battery life. The 3-cell battery will only last maximum 3 hour unlike Samsung NC10 can easily run up to 6-7 hours with its battery. The second complaint must be over its some expensive price. If you look at the price of fashionable Asus Eee 1000HE or Acer Aspire on AOD 150, you will have more interest to these netbooks because of their aggressive prices and even their battery life. However, Mini 10 comes with HDMI which none of these netbooks are able to provide it.

Here is the full Specs of Inspiron Mini 10:

CPU: Intel Atom Z520 (1.33GHz/533MHz FSB/512K L2Cache)/ Intel Atom Z530 (1.60GHz/533MHz FSB/512K L2Cache)
